'Big Fat Boy' is the name this upcoming artist uses to sign his work, and proudly so. It's his way of showing affection and recognition for his younger self. As an overweight child who suffered immensely at the hands of his bullies, Big Fat Boy's creative flame sparked with defiance. Having understood the value of embracing who he is, he wears the title 'Big Fat Boy' with dignity.
Big Fat Boy's art signifies a resolute rejection of the status quo. His ability to flare emotion inside his spectators is astounding. While observing his paintings, you can close your eyes and still see the popping flash of colours outlined in the darkness, fashioned with obscured lines and contrasting shades that send chills down your spine.
Portraits with an obscure stillness that overwhelm you with bizarre patterns and odd expressions.. A paradox of harsh truth and mild humour masterfully incorporated onto a canvas that consumes the eyes and rattles the mind.
Big Fat Boy's art can be seen as having clear roots to contemporary movements like neo-expressionism. His art draws elements of satire, primitivism and a scathing critique of modern society to produce a more honest, vulgar portrayal of our world.
You may notice that most of his work is in some shape or form, rooted in depictions of the human figure; often illustrated in wild and unusual settings. In his paintings 'Basta days' and 'I'm insane', Big Fat Boy crafts daring portrayals of human expression reminiscent of the type of work neo-expressionist icons such as Basquiat and Robert Combas were renowned for.
While a great deal of his imagery can appear violent, imposing and brutish, Big Fat Boy does occasionally portray the characters in his entourage in everyday situations; often with a sprinkle of humour.
Big Fat Boy's work often drives an element of shock or confrontation through the use of vibrant, intense colors and ambiguous shapes. He has a special talent for expressing his perceptions of the outside world down to their bare substance, often projecting them provocatively through his art.
